I absolutely love her rendition of Celine Dion's "All by Myself". Her vocals are really powerful and I would say she is on par or even better than Celin Dion. Definitely a worthy successor. Have a listen and judge for yourself. =)
Have been doing some reflection for the pass 2 weeks - something not new to me. Reflections is a part of my daily life. It helps me to set expectations, to push the boundaries.
Before I proceed further, let me first clarify that whatever I say here is purely my thoughts and is not meant to judge or criticize anyone. We have rights to our own opinions anyway, right?
So well, moving on, the topic that has been running a marathon in my mind for the last 14 or so days - competition. What does it mean to you?
According to Wikipedia, Competitionis a contest between individuals, groups, animals, etc. for territory, a niche, or a location of resources. It arises whenever two or more parties strive for a goal which cannot be shared. Competition occurs naturally between living organisms which co-exist in the same environment. For example, animals compete over water supplies, food, and mates, etc. Humans compete for water, food, and mates, though when these needs are met deep rivalries often arise over the pursuit of wealth, prestige, and fame. Business is often associated with competition as most companies are in competition with at least one other firm over the same group of customers.
To me competition is needed in life to make a person better. We want to be as good as the next person not because we want to bring that person down, but because it acts as a form of motivation. A drive to spur us on, to achieve more than we think we ever could - just like athletes.
I like a little competition in my life too but I will never barter with a person to achieve that success. Whether at work or in a game of badminton or dog and bone (just examples). Each person has a set of strength that they can boost a team or person's chances to success and like wise, we have have our weaknesses that can slow down the whole process.
Would we want the team to dump us because of that? Do unto others what you would want them to do unto you. Don't kick someone out just because you think you are better than them and the weaker species have no purpose to you! AND no, am not the victim here. I am SUPER PISSED at the scene that took place before my eyes just awhile back. It really felt like someone just plunged a stake into my heart! (Ok, that was just a doze of exaggeration)that person may not be me but hey! that person in question means something to me ok! Hmmph!
I can never understand why people like such forms of competition so much! Yes, I hate to lose but thats only channeled to myself and my own goals. I don't use a person as and when I want just so that I can always win! To win by getting the best clothes, to win by getting the best project, to win in a match, to win in buying everything someone else wants but cant afford to but you can. Where are all these going to lead you to! What satisfaction do you get from it? I seriously cannot understand people and their form of thinking.
Why can't you use that same energy to win yourself some respect, to better your self as a person, to work with pride in your career - to build yourself up. Why compete for the most trivial things in life?
ARGH, working life is indeed a jungle. You meet all kinds of animal species. The snake, the fox, the rat. All kinds of animals. Aiya, everywhere actually. Not just work.
Bah! I am hopping mad I want to fight! To kick-box and burn it all off. I miss Taekwondo. Haiz.
You may beat me in terms of materialistic gains but I win you flat by possessing character and integrity. How is that for a competition?
It has been quite awhile already and while imitation is flattery to some, it is never for me.
STOP IT.
“A competitive world offers two possibilities. You can lose. Or, if you want to win, you can change.” - for the better I hope.
