~**~

Have you ever felt your heart warm up and your eyes well up when ever you listen to a particular genre of music?

I do and I realised it today on my way to work.

As per daily routine, I plugged my mp3 into my ears the moment I stepped out of the house and when the player turned on and the music began to play, I felt my heart warm up and my taut shoulders slacken. I could just feel the smile forming on my groggy face.

That is the effect music has on me.

Secondly, I realised that when ever I listen to Indian songs, that is either, Tamil, Hindi or Malayalam, actually my preference is more of Tamil and Malayalam because they still use traditional instruments as compared to their Northen counterpart which has somewhat mordenised a little too much for my "ear"-buds.

Alright, back to what I was saying, I realised that Indian music has a really special effect on me. The music gets so over whelming that my eyes would involuntarily well up and that is just the music. When I do manage to grasp the meaning of the words and get to appreciate the lyrics that match the captivating melody, I get goose pimples and that is it! I would be so tuned into the whole moment, time seems to have stood still in that 5 minutes.

Music is really a gift to man kind. I wish I had the talent to make it.

To me, the music matters more than the lyrics whatever the language, because that is what carries the whole song, brings out the whole feel and the meaning of each word.

So what is my most favourite instrument? The flute. The bamboo flute. It is amazing how something so simply made can produce something that is just so magical. Music that thoroughly calms the soul. There is just something meditative about watching someone play the flute. I do hope I get the chance to learn it one day. =)

I LOVE music.

Music is what feelings sound like. ~Author Unknown
