HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Yoooo Hoooo Thumbalina, I am back! ok, that was just some lame attempt to be a little funny. Bleah. Haha.

2010 is here. Where did 2009 go to? Goodness! The days went by in a blur! It took me awhile to realise that a decade has passed!!!

This year is special because:

It marks the 10th year of my friendship with Ke Xin, Reshpal and Seemanti - Wait, actually 9 years with Seemanti, but it doesn't make that much of a difference.

10th year of loyalty with westlife! Mwahaha..and yes, it was through westlife that ke xin and I clicked and ta da! 10 years later and we are still together!

I would say 2009 was a year of the awakening. I woke up to many realizations and each of them was a blessing in many ways. And did I fulfil my resolution of being happy? I would say I did. It was a good year and if you had read entries from my past years, you would notice that there were indeed more happy moments so yea, I would give myself that pat on the back.

As for this year, my resolutions is *drum roll* To Make A Difference. Ok, don't laugh but it is somewhat of a calling because word for word, this phrase popped into my head while was I deep in prayer as the clocked struck its 12th chime to welcome in the new year. No kidding!

say hi to grumpy!

To Make A Difference - to myself and to those around me. It must be a sign that those little plans I have been making to achieve in the coming 10 8 years are finally coming into their places. I would say one is in place - I am about to work with children with special needs soon! and that is definitely making a difference to someone's life. (=

Ok, now for SOME pictures of my Kerala trip. Didn't get to take much this time as I did not visit much places of interest due to the wedding preparations taking place so shall just put up those that may be of some interest to you, you and yes, YOU!

That is my Teacher Aunty. I call her that because, as told by my mother, when I was young, my mandarin trained tongue could not pronounce the then complicated words of my actual mother tongue - malayalam and after countless failed attempts in making me pronounce APPACHA
(which means father's sister)my parents gave up and let me stick to my more conventional method of identification - Teacher Aunty and her younger sister, my father's youngest sibling, Doctor Aunty( You will see her picture in a moment). The names have stuck on since then.

Anyways, she is the eldest in my father's family and as I have already mentioned, was an English Teacher for a Higher Secondary School in her country side. Thats her busy cutting coconuts from her own backyard AND from the plantation that we all own(picture will be shown soon!) The coconuts also known as copras will then be dried for a few day and then sent to the mill to be blended into VIRGIN COCONUT OIL! Talk about home made products! People actually make their own oil for cooking and hair nourishment! And the oil does not stink one bit! Unlike the packaged ones we all fear.

Oh! Unfortunately, I did not take a picture of the house this time but this is the same house my father grew up in and that is the roof top of the house! Being a semi-country side, the place is so quiet except for the occasional sounds of the buses and the random barks of our guard dogs and the cockerels near by. And you can see butterflies fluttering in the garden EVERY MORNING and listen to the birds chirping and when you look up, the eagles SOARING. Beautiful right! Imagine having all that to appreciate everyday!

Alright back to my coconuts!

Ahem! That is my pile! I was made to do some cutting on the first day of my stay! Hhmph! Under the scorching heat! Nevertheless, I had a great time and time passed so fast in the midst of all the catching up we had to do.

And after 4 days of drying under the sun and then blended at the mill, I now present to you the end product: Extra Virgin Coconut Oil!

That is my bottle to bring home! =) Psst! The reward for my hard work ;). Well, the rest are for the coming wedding spread!

Ok, I have to stop here and leave this entry hanging till the next time I visit the tech-y world because: I am currently using the wireless USB at grandpa's home and the speed is so freaking slow that it actually took me 40 mins just to load those few pictures!

Stay tuned for more when I get home and am not lazy enough to continue. hehe. =)
