Dear Divya, Nisha and Priya, I was so overwhelmed with emotion over all that you did on father's day. It truly was a wonderful gift , something I would cherish for long. Thank you once again and God Bless! Love, Sunil Cute right, though I have an issue with the way my father signed off. Ala, say Acha not Sunil !! haha..it was really touching. This year we decided not to give a gift for father's day, instead, we decided to put our cooking skills to the test. Yea, what a day to test one's skills right? But thankfully, we 3 were blessed with the hands to cook and magic was created. :p hehe. D.N.P inc. ;) The family is a haven in a heartless world.
We spent 3 hours squabbling, shuffling and bossing and it is a real wonder how we managed to successfully appease my father's very critical palate. Well, I don't mean critical in a bad way over here. What I meant is that my father is a very particular eater. He likes pakka(slang for typical in tamil..I think) indian food and when I say particular, trust me, he is REALLY particular. My father is an excellent cook. So you can imagine.
He actually went "hmm..HMM.." and we knew we scored. =) And out came the words from his mouth: "Nice, Good." We were ecstatic.
Prior to us cooking him dinner, we bought him lunch from banana leaf apollo and gave him chocolate cake made just for a diabetic's sweet tooth, courtesy of the blob's friend. She REALLY bakes good cakes and pastries and thus we got her to bake us one - not free of charge of course, but at a reasonable amount.
It was after we read that email that we realised that indeed it is not always gifts that makes people especially loved ones happy. It is the small little acts we do that show the real love and I am happy my father was able to feel the love and effort we put into the day's preparations Especially when it came to dinner.
Wait a minute, I just realised I have not mentioned the dishes we prepared. haha.. well, we made fried rice, chicken curry, hmm, more like fried chicken curry. haha..(like I mentioned earlier, my father is a typical indian man and he needs curry no matter what the main course is =) ) and the last one was potato cutlet which my sister actually made one into a heart and gave it to him on his plate of rice and curry.
I shall upload the pictures soon. But let me forewarn you, the pictures may not look very appealing but really, the food was really yummy-licious. My grandfather said so too. =)
Hey! I can see us three opening a family food business one day! Hopefully, we won't be as squabbly and pushy as we were this time. :p Looking forward to more cooking experiments eh?
