Deepavali came, deepavali went. How time flies. This was the first year I actually went visiting more than 1 house in a day.To be specific, 3 houses at 3 ends of out little red dot.The travelling was tiring but the house visits were fun and somewhat heart warming(long story behind it). But I am glad we managed to make 2 separate families who coincidentally share a similar story in their life, really happy and special =).
The eve of deepavali was spent out catching a movie and spectacular fireworks with my sister, mum and Jithu annan. Our plan to go to the fair late night was changed as my mother and cousin did not feel comfortable with the overwhelming crowd. What a waste! As my sister and I were actually looking forward to all the pushing and shoving just to experience something out of our usual lets-avoid-crowded-places attitude. It was ok though,as the fireworks made up for it.
We took a cab down from Lido and reached just in time for the Deepavali countdown held just a 10 minute walk down from my house. The crowd was fired up and there were some dancing and merry making along with the performers on stage. It was really entertaining and the spirit of the crowd was enough to make me feel pumped up.
Then the fireworks came.It started with small bursts of colours to signify the nearing of the festival of lights and when the clocked striked on the dot of 12 am,the fireworks burst into a splendid explosion of colourful sparkles.I could not help but just stare in awe.I love fireworks! There is just something magical and romantic about them.It is just a pity that the company I was with was just so wrong ;) hehe..Kidding!! I am glad I spent it with them. After all, family first =).
I am glad the 2 days went well, although at first I did feel a little pinch when I realised that this year, after three years,I did not visit my friend and her family for deepavali.Nevertheless, this year's deepavali gave me a different sense of satisfaction and joy and I could not ask for a better experience then this.
